ACS Hope Lodge
Free lodging during treatment
Provides cancer patients and their caregivers a free place to stay when traveling for treatment. The home-like environment offers private rooms, shared kitchen spaces, and peer support to relieve the financial and emotional burden of distant care. Operates locations around the country.
Cancer Connection
Integrative therapies, education, and peer support
Offers one-on-one guidance, support groups, movement classes, and integrative therapies like massage and acupuncture to help navigate a cancer diagnosis. All services are free and open to patients, survivors, and caregivers. Based in Northampton, it primarily serves residents across Western Massachusetts.
Elephants and Tea
Community connection, writing workshops, and education
Provides a quarterly print magazine, online articles, and writing workshops written by and for young adult cancer patients, survivors, and caregivers. Their goal is to help the AYA (Adolescent and Young Adult) cancer community process their experiences and find connection through storytelling. While headquartered in Ohio, they serve young adults virtually across the United States, including MA, IL, and IN.
Dana Farber Young Adult Program (YAP)
Specialized clinical care and psychosocial support
Provides tailored clinical, emotional, and social support services specifically for young adult cancer patients aged 18 to 39. Offers peer support activities, fertility preservation resources, and specialized counseling to navigate the unique challenges of a young adult diagnosis. Based in Boston, it serves patients receiving care at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and across Massachusetts.
Massachusetts General Hospital AYA Program
Multidisciplinary medical and survivorship care
Offers comprehensive medical care, peer navigation, fertility consultation, and mental health resources for patients diagnosed between ages 15 and 39. The program bridges pediatric and adult oncology to address age-specific emotional, social, and medical needs throughout treatment and survivorship. Based at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, it serves young adults across Massachusetts and New England.

Gilda’s Club Chicago
Psychosocial support and community education
Provides free support groups, healthy lifestyle workshops, educational lectures, and social activities for anyone impacted by cancer. Their focus is on building a supportive community to ensure no one faces a diagnosis alone. Located in Chicago, it serves patients, families, and caregivers across Chicagoland.
Cancer Support Center
Holistic wellness and counseling services
Offers free professional counseling, movement and nutrition classes, body image assistance, and resource navigation. Programs are tailored to every stage of the cancer journey for both patients and loved ones. Operating physical centers in Homewood and Mokena, it serves the South Suburbs and greater Chicago area.
Wellness House
Counseling, programming, nutrition, emotional support, and more
Delivers programming, including exercise classes, nutrition consultations, stress management, and support groups at no cost. They focus on helping individuals manage the physical, emotional, and mental side effects of cancer care. Based in Hinsdale with additional satellite locations, it serves patients across Northern Illinois.
Imerman Angels
Social support and one-on-one mentor matching
Connects cancer patients, survivors, and caregivers with “Mentor Angels”: volunteers who share a similar diagnosis, age, and experience. This peer-to-peer connection provides empathy, practical guidance, and emotional support. Headquartered in Chicago, it serves residents across Illinois as well as globally.
Cancer Support Community (Indiana)
Psychosocial support and wellness programs
Offers free, professional-led support groups, art and yoga classes, educational workshops, and child/family programming. Their goal is to ensure that all individuals affected by cancer build strength and community. Located in Indianapolis, they provide programs throughout Central Indiana through physical locations and partner satellites.
Little Red Door
Physical, emotional, and financial support
Helps cancer patients by providing free transportation to treatment, nutritional supplements, medical equipment, and screening assistance. They focus on removing financial and logistical barriers to care. Based in Indianapolis, the agency serves residents across Central and East Central Indiana.
Phil’s Friends
Care Packages and psychosocial support
Provides handmade care packages filled with comfort items, blankets, and notes of hope to cancer patients nationwide, with strong roots in the Midwest. Their volunteers also offer ongoing card-sending and virtual support networks to remind patients they are not alone. Headquartered in Crown Point, Indiana, they serve cancer patients across Indiana and throughout the United States.
Heroes’ Foundation
Financial aid and research funding
Offers direct financial assistance to Indiana cancer patients to help cover basic needs such as housing, utilities, and transportation during treatment. They also fund vital local cancer research and support survivorship programming. Based in Indianapolis, the foundation serves patients and medical centers across Indiana.
